Terms and Conditions
The rules for using this website, its accounts and its paid memberships.
These terms set out the rules for using the codeshack.io website, which is run by CodeShack.
By using this website you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
In these terms, "you" means the person using the website, and "we", "us" and "our" mean CodeShack. The terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, as set out under Governing law below.
Cookies
The site uses cookies. Some are needed for features such as signing in, and our advertising and analytics partners use others. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent to advertising and analytics cookies in a consent banner, and you can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of the page.
The privacy policy lists the cookies and explains your choices.
License
Unless otherwise stated, we and our licensors own the intellectual property rights in all material on this website, and all of those rights are reserved. You may view and print pages from codeshack.io for your own personal use, subject to the restrictions in these terms.
Apart from code snippets and example code, you must not do any of the following with material from codeshack.io.
- Republish it.
- Sell, rent or sub-license it.
- Reproduce, duplicate or copy it.
- Redistribute it, unless it was made specifically for redistribution.
You are free to use and redistribute code snippets and example code. Packages you buy are covered by the license agreement.
Your account
You can use most of the site without an account. You need one to hold a Pro membership or to reach your membership downloads. Packages can be bought without an account, and the download link is sent to the email address you pay with.
Keep your password to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has it. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.
One account per person or per company. Do not share sign-in details or download links with another business so they can avoid paying for their own.
We can suspend or close an account that is being used to break these terms, to break the license agreement, or to abuse the service. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why first.
Pro memberships
Pro is a subscription. It renews automatically at the price shown when you signed up, monthly or yearly depending on the plan you chose, until you cancel it.
You can cancel at any time from your account, in one click. Canceling stops the next renewal and nothing else. You keep everything until the period you have already paid for runs out.
You can get a full refund within 14 days. Email payments@codeshack.io within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund that payment in full. Your membership ends when the refund is made.
After those 14 days, payments are not refundable, and there is no partial refund if you cancel part way through a period. Cancel before the renewal date and you will not be charged again. This is separate from the 30 day guarantee on one-off package purchases, which is set out in the license agreement.
If a payment fails, Stripe retries it. If it keeps failing, the membership ends and the account goes back to being a free one. Anything you downloaded stays licensed to you.
We may change the price of a membership. Existing members are told before it applies to them and can cancel if they would rather not continue.
What a membership includes can change as packages, tools and articles are added or retired. We will not gut it, but the specific list is not frozen.
Closing your account
You can delete your account from your settings page. Nothing is erased straight away. There is a 30 day wait, and you can stop the deletion at any time in that window by signing in and saying so.
Asking to delete your account cancels a Pro membership so it does not renew. If you ask within 14 days of your first payment, you can still claim the refund described above. Otherwise, any paid time left when the account is erased goes with it and is not refunded.
After the 30 days your details, sign-in methods, remembered devices and download history are erased. Records of payments are kept, because we are required to hold them for tax. The privacy policy sets out what is kept and for how long.
User Comments
Some pages let you post comments. Comments reflect the views of the people who post them, not ours. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for comments or for any loss, cost or damage caused by them.
We may review comments before they appear, and we may remove any comment that we consider inappropriate, offensive or in breach of these terms.
By posting a comment, you confirm each of the following.
- You are entitled to post it and have any permission you need to do so.
- It does not infringe anyone's copyright, patent, trademark or other rights.
- It contains nothing defamatory, offensive, indecent or otherwise unlawful, and nothing that invades someone's privacy.
- It is not used to advertise or promote a business, or to promote unlawful activity.
You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce and edit your comments, and to let others do the same, in any form or media.
Linking to our content
You are welcome to link to any page on this site without asking first. A link must not be misleading, must not suggest that we endorse you or your products when we do not, and must fit the context of the page it appears on.
Do not use our logo or other artwork in a link without our written permission.
Iframes
Do not show our pages inside a frame on another website, or use any other technique that changes how our pages look, without our written permission.
Reservation of Rights
We may ask you to remove a link to our site, and if we do, you agree to remove it promptly. We may also change these terms, including the rules on linking, at any time.
Removal of links from our website
If you find a link on our website objectionable for any reason, you can contact us about it. We will consider requests to remove links, but we do not have to remove them or reply to you directly.
We try to keep the information on this website correct, but we do not promise that it is complete or accurate, that the website will stay available, or that its material is kept up to date.
Content Liability
We are not responsible for the content of any website that links to ours. If you link to us, you agree to protect us against any claims that arise from your website. Do not place links to our site on pages with material that is defamatory, obscene or criminal, or that infringes anyone's rights or encourages others to do so.
Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we exclude all representations, warranties and conditions relating to our website and the use of this website (including, without limitation, any warranties implied by law in respect of satisfactory quality, fitness for purpose and/or the use of reasonable care and skill). Nothing in this disclaimer will do any of the following.
- limit or exclude our or your liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence;
- limit or exclude our or your liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- limit any of our or your liabilities in any way that is not permitted under applicable law; or
- exclude any of our or your liabilities that may not be excluded under applicable law.
The limitations and exclusions of liability in this section and elsewhere in this disclaimer are subject to the preceding paragraph. They govern all liabilities arising under the disclaimer or in relation to its subject matter, including liabilities arising in contract, in tort (including negligence) and for breach of statutory duty.
To the extent that the website and the information and services on the website are provided free of charge, we will not be liable for any loss or damage of any nature.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version on this page is the one that applies. If a change materially affects a paid membership, members are told before it takes effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
Nothing here removes any right you have as a consumer that cannot be removed by agreement.
