What is this page?
A click-to-copy library of every tick, cross, and checkbox character in Unicode. Standard keyboards don't include a simple ✔ or ✗, yet you need them constantly: to-do lists, pros-and-cons tables, spreadsheets, and social posts. Frequently Asked Questions
How do I type a check mark on my keyboard?
There is no standard keyboard shortcut for ✔ on Windows or Mac, which is exactly why this page exists. The fastest route is copying it from here. In Microsoft Word you can type 2713 and press Alt + X, and the Windows emoji picker (Win + .) includes ✅ under its symbols tab.
What is the difference between ✔ and ✅?
The plain check ✔ is a text symbol: it inherits your font's size and color, so you can make it red, bold, or tiny like any letter. The ✅ is an emoji, and most platforms draw it as a fixed green box that ignores your font settings. Use the text version in documents and the emoji when you want guaranteed color.
Will these check marks work in Excel and Google Sheets?
Yes. They are ordinary Unicode text, so you can paste them into cells, formulas, data validation lists, and chart labels. They also survive CSV exports, which is something cell formatting and emoji can't always promise.
Can I change the color of a check mark?
Text symbols like ✔ and ✗ take whatever font color you apply, so a red cross or a green tick is one formatting change away. Is there a checkbox character I can use in lists?
