This license covers the script packages you buy from CodeShack and the packages you download with a CodeShack Pro membership.
It does not cover anything we give away. The free script downloads, the tutorials and their source, the snippets, the tools and the reference pages are all outside it and are covered by the Terms and Conditions instead.
Downloading a package means you accept this license.
What you can do
Use the code in as many projects as you like, personal or commercial. There is no per project fee and no limit on how many sites you build with it.
Use it in work you are paid for. If you build a site for a client, the code can go in it and you do not need to buy anything extra.
Change the code however you want. Rewrite it, strip parts out, or fold it into something much larger. Whatever you build on top of it belongs to you.
You do not have to credit CodeShack, though we always appreciate it when people do.
What you cannot do
You cannot sell or give away the code on its own, or as part of a collection of code. That covers listing it on a marketplace, bundling it into a theme or plugin you sell, and publishing it in a public repository.
The line is straightforward. Shipping it inside something you built is fine. Shipping it as the thing itself is not.
You cannot pass your download links or your account to another business so they can avoid buying their own license. Your license covers you, and if you bought it for a company, everyone who works there.
You cannot sublicense the code, or hand your license to someone else. If they need it, they buy their own.
Who owns the code
CodeShack keeps ownership of the original code and its copyright. You are buying the right to use it, not the code itself.
That right is non-exclusive, so the same code is licensed to other people as well, and it is worldwide, so where you are does not matter.
Anything you write yourself on top of it stays yours.
If you have a Pro membership
A Pro membership gives you this same license on every package for as long as the membership is active.
Anything you downloaded stays licensed to you after the membership ends. A site you already shipped keeps working and you do not have to take anything down. What stops is access to new packages and new versions.
Refunds
Package purchases come with a 30 day money back guarantee. If it is not what you expected, contact us within 30 days and we will refund it in full.
A Pro membership can be canceled at any time from your account. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Updates and support
Updates are free and there is no time limit on them. If you bought a package outright, you can come back for the current version whenever you like.
Pro downloads need an active membership. Anything you have already downloaded stays licensed to you after it ends.
Support is by email. We answer questions about the code we wrote. We cannot debug the rest of your project for you, though we will usually try to point you in the right direction.
No warranty
The code is provided as is. We test it and we use it ourselves, but we cannot promise it is free of bugs or that it suits your particular case. Reviewing and testing it before you put it in front of real users is your responsibility.
Liability
CodeShack is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the code. Where liability cannot be excluded by law, it is limited to the amount you paid us.
Changes to this license
We may update this license. The version published on this page when you download a package is the one that applies to that download. Changes never apply backwards, so a license you already hold cannot become narrower later.
The whole agreement
This page, together with the Terms and Conditions, is the entire agreement between us about the packages. Nothing said in an email, a chat or a sales page adds to it or takes anything away.
If one part of it turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
Governing law
This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from it.
