About the Simple Image Resizer Tool

Our Simple Image Resizer is a free tool we made to help you change the size of your images quickly and easily. Sometimes you need a picture to be a specific width or height for a website, a social media post, or an email. This tool lets you do just that, right in your browser. You don't need to download any complicated software.

We designed it to be powerful, yet simple. You can lock the aspect ratio, which means your image won't get stretched or squished. You can also add a background color or even a two-color gradient if your new image size is different from the original shape. And because we care about your privacy, all the resizing happens on your own computer, so we never see or save your files.

How to Use the Tool

  • First, upload an image by clicking the browse button or by dragging and dropping it into the box.
  • Enter a new width or height. If the lock icon is active, the other dimension will update automatically to prevent distortion.
  • Choose a background type. You can pick a solid color, a two-color gradient, or make it transparent.
  • The final image will appear in the "Result" panel on the right, showing you a live preview.
  • When you're happy with it, choose a download format like PNG, JPEG, or WEBP, and click "Download Image" to save it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does "maintain aspect ratio" mean?

The aspect ratio is the relationship between the width and height of an image. When you maintain it, you make sure the image doesn't look stretched or distorted. For example, if you make the image half as wide, our tool will automatically make it half as tall, so it looks perfect.

How do I add a custom background?

If you resize your image to a different shape, there might be empty space around it. You can fill this space with a solid color, a two-color gradient, or make it transparent by selecting the right option. Remember to download as a PNG file if you need transparency.

What is the difference between PNG, JPEG, and WEBP?

JPEG is great for photos because it makes file sizes small, but it can lose a little quality. PNG is perfect for logos or graphics and supports transparent backgrounds without losing quality. WEBP is a newer format that offers great quality with even smaller file sizes, and it is supported by most modern browsers.

Does resizing an image reduce its quality?

Making an image smaller usually doesn't hurt the quality much. But, making an image much larger than its original size can make it look blurry or pixelated. Our tool uses high-quality resizing methods to keep your image looking as sharp as possible.

Are my uploaded images secure?

Yes, your images are 100% secure and private. Our tool does all the work directly on your computer in your web browser. This means your images are never uploaded to our servers, and we never see or store them. Your files stay with you.
